THE USE OF INTERPRETIVE PARADIGM IN MANAGEMENT RESEARCH BASED ON SELF-CONTRUCTION PERSPECTIVE
Abstract
This paper aims to set forth the use of interpretive paradigm and its development in management research based on the understanding process undergone by the writer. Thus, the method employed in this paper is the self-construction perspective. The result indicates that the interpretive paradigm is not limited to five approaches, namely: phenomenology, hermeneutics, ethnography, ethnomethodology, and symbolic interaction. Moreover, the interpretive paradigm is currently shifting to an interactive and reflexive approach. An interactive approach is developed by radically changing and taking on a meaning based on life experiences. In particular, it is performed in a condition where an individual can free himself from the crisis called an epiphany. Meanwhile, a reflexive approach is intended to develop new theories and emancipate management practices that are needed amid modernity.Downloads
