THE EFFECTS OF LEADERSHIP STYLE AND WORK ENVIRONMENT ON EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of leadership style and work environment variables partially, simultaneously and most dominantly on employee performance variable. Respondents were employees of Abdurachman Saleh University who were determined by a total sampling technique of 66 people. Data were collected by means of interviews, questionnaires and documentation. The data analysis method used in this study were validity test, reliability test, multiple linear regression analysis, t test, f test, dominant test, and coefficient of determination. The results showed that the leadership style variable partially had an insignificant effect on employee performance with the t-count value which was less than the t table and the significance value > 0.05. While on the work environment variable, the t count was greater than the t table with the significance value < 0.05, which means that the work environment variable had a significant effect on employee performance. Simultaneously, the variables of leadership style and work environment had a significant effect on performance with a significance value of 0.05 and F count was greater than F table. The regression model showed that the work environment variable (X2) had the most dominant effect on employee performance at Abdurachman Saleh Situbondo University. Leadership style and work environment had a contribution of 38.8% on employee performance with the level category of significant effect.
